Being thankful will not only change your mood but change your health. All to often I hear complaints of being too fat or out of shape. Sure there are millions upon millions of people NOT experiencing life with perfect body. You might be one of them.

Diets, workouts, supplements, workout equipment and the like are all part of a growing industry called Health and Wellness and it is fast on its way to being a TRILLION dollar market place. We spend like crazy for that smaller dress size or bigger pecs.

Have you ever been thankful for what you do have and thankful for the fact that you can change it? Are you thankful for other aspects of your life.

I challenge you to think of one thing you are thankful for and write it down. “Uhhhh, hhhhhmmm, well I guess I’m thankful for……”
Great! What you will find is that you will think of a second thing, then a third – then many many things.

Did you know there have been studies that found when people kept what is called a Gratitude Journal the results where that of increased immune funtion and many other PHYSICAL benefits!

It is a well know fact that the limbic system in the brain mediates emotion and movement. It is not much of a stretch to find the connection between being thankful and overall health.

Go ahead…take a few minutes and do it right now. All your worries, to do lists, and problems will be here when you get back.

**

**

**

**

**

So how do you feel? Do you feel happier? Lighter? More alive?

This is a wonderful exercise to do each morning when you wake (instead of checking email), or at night when you go to bed.

Want to know the magic part?

When you continually express the discipline of gratitude you will not only be happier, but healthier and I bet you that you will start to achieve more in your life.

Start a gratitude jounal today.

It’s your choice.

Be thankful. Workout. Win.

Most people are completely confused when the word diet or nutrition is used. Your body needs to have nutrients replaced, whether through foods being eaten or supplementation. Do you remember what you learned in elementary school about the four major food groups?

About the fact that food is a fuel?

As an adult, eating balanced healthy meals from these four food groups still applies. It is extremely important to remove the “junk food” from your meal plan and stick with healthy balanced foods. If you do not like certain things such as fruits and vegetables, be sure you are taking a supplement to get the nutrients you definitely need.

With that said, by far the most important thing to consider in a meal plan is how long you can realistically stick to it. If you can’t stick to it 90% of the time…it is not worth it.

There are diets that work and diets that don’t.

How many times have you heard “if you don’t have your health…what do you have”?

I personally would rather be fit and broke than fat, unhealthy and broke. Why not be in shape and have money?

If you are unhealthy and unfit, all the money in the world won’t matter in the grand scheme of things. Fitness professionals have been pressing this and similar points for years. In this economic environment many people are “feeling” the money crunch and just praying they are not hit with a sickness.

The worst case scenario is no money and no health.

If you are exercising and taking care of yourself then this is NOT the time to stop, but to forge ahead. I want to encourage you to keep up the great work!
If are not exercising and eating well than you need to know two things:

1. It’s NOT too late.
2. This is a perfect time to begin!

The fitness industry and professional who drive it are on top of things. There are low cost (and even free) fitness bootcamps in communities everywhere. There are online services that provide credible fitness information on how to get in shape right where you live – at home, in the office or even in the gym.

The most up to date programming has tested true and is scientifically proven to help you lose fat fast, keep it off and get you in the best physical condition possible.

There are meal plans that work, and diets that don’t. One way to stay “economically sound” in your own household is to not waste your money on programs and diets that won’t work. The are credible professionals that have created low cost solutions for eating in a way to boost your metabolism and stick to it 90% of the time – forever.

Throwing money out the window on supplements that are ineffective when you can have access to the very best in quality, taste and ingredients is not wise. There are better choices.

Then there are all of the other little tidbits we have been talking about forever:

Park in the furthest parking spot you can find.
Take the stairs, not the elevator.
Actually play with your kids at the park
Speed mow the lawn
Ride you bike to work on a nice day
Perform body weight exercises

Need I continue?

It is not just a trite comment when I tell you to invest in yourself. The return will far outweigh any profit from monetary investments. Don’t allow yourself to be left wishing you had invested in your health instead of the stock market.

Invest Wisely. Be Fit. Win.

Dave Gleason
Is it at all possible to maintain a low-carb diet for a lifetime? Or is it just a quick-fix?

Well, Registered Dietitian Jayson Hunter has answered those questions – and a lot more. He grew tired of seeing so many new clients come to him with their metabolism slowed to a crawl by their yo-yo dieting approach. He understands people are searching for fast weight loss, but was desperately seeking a way to educate them on the devastating effects of starvation and fad diets.

The problem with fad diets is they get you immediate results. How is that a problem? Two reasons:

1) Because the methods they use are rarely based on any kind of science.

2) They fail to teach you a method of rapid weight loss that you can actually make a permanent part of your lifestyle and KEEP the weight off – forever!

And isn’t that what you’re really looking for, permanent weight loss? My guess is, if you’re anything like me that is EXACTLY what you’ve been desperately searching for. A proven – and healthy – method to help you lose weight fast that will not leave you looking for the next quick fix two months later when all the weight you lost has “magically” found its way back onto your body.

You see, Jayson Hunter is a real Registered Dietitian. Unlike so many of the “pretenders” selling snake oil on the internet, he’s actually a trained professional with years of education backing up his claims. The man has over ten years of experience helping people just like you and me to lose weight and keep it off. I’ve really been impressed with his program because I’ve never seen anything like it before. It is a scientifically proven way of eating that can help you shed up to 15 pounds in just 30 days. Again, the difference is this isn’t some sort of fad diet you have no prayer of sticking with to keep the weight off.

Not even close.

No, the bulk of his system is actually focused on taking those drastic results you see early in the program and making them PERMANENT. And isn’t that what you really want?

Look: There is no magic pill, potion or special food that will deliver the results you are searching for. Jayson explains, in language anyone can understand, the secret to fast weight loss is found in common nutrients you eat all the time. When you eat them at the correct times and quantities, well, the fat literally melts right off!

The part I like best is the fact I’m not constantly craving carbs and I’m never starving. Jayson’s 10+ years as a Registered Dietitian really show in this book as he explains everything in a step-by-step manner that is easy to understand and follow. He uses simple every day foods and explains how the nutrients in these foods are what holds the key to you losing weight.

Most importantly after you get your immediate results Jayson explains how you can eat to maintain those results for the rest of your life. It is amazing to see something that most people think is very complicated laid out in simple terminology and explanation.

If you’re like me and it seems like you’ve been struggling with your weight forever then I highly suggest you check out his Carb Rotation Diet. It really does answer the question:

How do I lose weight fast, and KEEP it off – forever?

http://tinyurl.com/5d9uvq

As Americans’ collective waistline has continued to expand, so has the prevalence of obesity-related cancer.

According to the June issue of Mayo Clinic Health Letter, an estimated 14 percent of cancer deaths in older men and 20 percent in older women can be attributed to excess body fat. It’s not fully understood why excess body fat increases the risk of cancer.

Theories include:

Insulin — Obesity and inactivity generally lead to higher levels of insulin circulating in the blood. Excess insulin is believed to fuel the growth of cancer cells. In addition, it increases circulating levels of other hormones that likely play a role in cancer development and growth, such as estrogen.

Estrogen — Adding to insulin’s influence on estrogen levels, fat tissue also produces this hormone. Estrogen levels are 50 percent to 100 percent higher in postmenopausal women who are overweight versus those who are lean. It’s believed that this alteration increases the risk of estrogen-sensitive cancers such as certain types of breast cancers.

Immune system — Excess fat is thought to release proteins that may suppress the immune system and increase inflammation. Both may play a role in cancer development and progression.

Other risks of obesity — Obesity-related problems such as acid reflux, high blood pressure, gallstones and fatty liver may damage tissues of the esophagus, kidney, gallbladder and liver, respectively. This may set the stage for cancer development.

Although there’s evidence that gaining weight increases the risk of cancer, there has been almost no research that demonstrates whether losing weight will reduce that risk. Two major components of weight loss — a healthy diet and exercise — appear to be excellent ways to reduce cancer risk.

…a healthy diet and exercise…what a novel idea.

To bad prevention isn’t as sexy as beach muscles and a firm butt.

Prevent. Live. Win.
